Choose your support worker

Support should feel right, not randomly assigned.

Where possible, we want people to feel more involved in who supports them. This page explains how worker choice, matching, and visibility work, so the experience feels safer, more personal, and more transparent from the start.

What this page is about

Four things that make worker choice worth doing properly

🎯

Real fit

We consider routine, personality, communication style, preferences, and support needs.

💬

Informed choice

You should understand who is supporting you and why they are a good fit.

🛡️

Safer starts

For complex supports, onboarding and matching need more than a quick roster fill.

🔁

Better continuity

The right match helps support feel stable, not constantly changing.

How it works

A clearer way to choose the right person.

Choice does not mean being left to figure everything out alone. We guide the process, explain the options, and help narrow down what matters most so the final decision feels more confident and better informed.

1

We understand the support need

Before worker selection, we look at routines, risks, communication needs, personality fit, and what the participant values day to day.

2

We prepare suitable options

We identify workers whose experience, temperament, and availability fit the actual support environment.

3

You review the fit

Through our portal and conversation with our team, you can consider which option feels right rather than taking a blind match.

4

We support a smooth start

Once the fit is confirmed, we set up introductions, handover, documentation, and expectations so the start feels steady.

What people can usually choose

Preferences that matter are worth talking about.

  • Communication style including quieter support, more verbal encouragement, or a calmer pace.
  • Personality and temperament so support feels natural, not forced.
  • Gender preference where personal care, culture, or comfort make that important.
  • Routine compatibility around mornings, evenings, sleepovers, community access, or structured routines.
  • Experience and confidence for high intensity, behavioural, psychosocial, or in-home supports.

What our portal helps with

More visibility. Less guesswork.

  • Worker visibility so people feel more informed about who is involved.
  • Service transparency around what is happening next and who is assigned.
  • Practical follow-through that helps families and coordinators feel more confident about service setup.
  • Ongoing confidence because support does not disappear into a black box once the referral is accepted.

What we balance on our side

Worker choice still needs to be safe, realistic, and sustainable.

We will always try to support preference and fit, but we also make sure the match is practical. That includes training, worker capacity, support complexity, location, continuity, and whether the arrangement can actually be maintained well.

🛡️

Safety first

For complex or high intensity supports, we only put forward workers with the right readiness and oversight.

🤝

Realistic commitments

We prefer to be clear about what can be maintained well rather than overpromise a perfect match we cannot sustain.

📅

Longer-term fit

Good matching is not just about the first shift. It is about whether the support will still feel right and stable over time.

💡

When areas or availability are less straightforward, still ask. We are continuously expanding. If the need is a good fit, we would rather review it properly than rule it out too early.
